Let’s hack hate together! Participate in the SELMA “Hacking Hate” hackathon 2018 in Berlin

As part of the SELMA project, we are organising a "Hacking Hate" hackathon in Berlin on 5 and 6 December 2018. The hackathon will bring together young people, teachers, parents, and other professionals and carers to work on innovative (tech) tools and solutions to "hack" online hate speech.

Are you 15 to 18 years old? Do you have a brilliant idea that could help to tackle online hate speech? Do you have in mind an innovative technological solution? Would you rather want to develop an exciting education, counselling or awareness programme? Come up with a unique idea, reach out to your peers, and create a team of up to five people (including one responsible adult)! The new deadline for submitting your team application is October 4th 2018.

In October, SELMA partners will select six teams to participate in the hackathon. Selected participants will be invited to develop and pitch their idea further in two-day challenge at the Facebook Digital Learning Centre in Berlin. We will cover your cost to travel to the German capital.

The "Hacking Hate" hackathon will be a great opportunity to learn new skills and bring forward fresh ideas on how to prevent or remediate online hate speech, while meeting fascinating people from across Europe.

If you want to know more about how to participate in the hackathon, visit the SELMA "Hacking Hate" hackathon page.
